ECUTE Edition Shibuya, located inside Shibuya Scramble Square, is composed of 15 sweets shops. All shops are arranged diagonally at a 45-degree angle, creating intersecting lines of sight and movement that naturally guide visitors deeper into the space, encouraging a high degree of circulation. This layout minimizes any sense of hierarchy between front and back shops, allowing each shop to maintain a flat relationship with one another. It also ensures fairness and flexibility, so that when some shops are replaced in the future, new shops can join without hesitation. As a soft unifying element for the entire space, an organic-shaped mesh structure is suspended from the ceiling. It floats lightly like a “cloud,” while also carrying a playful presence reminiscent of “whipped cream,” translating the uplifting feeling brought by sweets into the scale of the space. Lighting is integrated into the underside of the structure according to the shop arrangement, designed so that all showcases receive even illumination, balancing visual lightness with functionality. This is not simply a place for purchasing, but a space intended for discovering and encountering while wandering. The design is rooted in the rhythm where the dynamic flow of the city of Shibuya intersects with the small joys that sweets bring. The sweet, floating form gently envelops the enchanting encounters with sweets and the excitement they inspire, while incorporating functional elements such as signage and lighting.
